I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. Even thought I couldn’t be with my fiancé or my family this Thanksgiving, I am grateful for my good friends, Yulia and Dina, who hosted an amazing Thanksgiving dinner and invited us all to celebrate with them.
Girls did an amazing job setting everything up, and it looked so elegant, beautiful and festive.
Our lovely hostess
I don’t know if it’s a Russian thing or not, but we always end up with too much food, so so much, like it’s our last meal LOL but no one is complaining.
For starters we had different types of chess and meet, four different types of salads, blintzi (Russian pancakes) with red caviar, bruschetta and sliced smoked salmon.
Dina told me that she is going to be the one cooking the turkey and it was her first time making it. I was a bit worried for Dina because it’s not so easy to make a delicious turkey, but let me tell you it was the tastiest turkey I have tried, so moist and delicious! Good job Dina! I guess three days of prepping it and slow cooking it all day really paid off, and I will have to get a recipe from her later and try to make it myself next time.
I wanted to bring something to the party and what came first to mind was seafood casserole that my soon-to-be-mother-in-law cooked for us over Christmas. I texted her in the morning to get her recipe, and prepped it all at home, so later my casserole joined the big birdie in the oven. It turned out great and tasty, but not as good as mama Laura makes it. I will have to get few pointers from her next time.
All in all, it was a beautiful evening spent with old and new friends, lots of red wine and good fun. I love meeting new people who are easy to talk to and fun to be around. It was an international blend of Russians, Ukrainians, Bulgarian, Armenian and Italian.
Oh, and the best part that we got invited the next day to help with the leftovers, and as I good friend I couldn’t say no 🙂 Ok, now I am stuffed to the max and thinking about going on my juice detox diet for few days.
I have a lot to be thankful for this year: thankful for my loving and wonderful fiancé Trevor, thankful that my parents got to come and visit me this year, thankful that I am healthy and well, thankful for my real friends in my life and million other things 🙂 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
